The study revealed crosstalk between the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) and hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axes under physiological chronic stress with bilateral adrenalectomy (bADX).  The compensatory regulation of testicular steroidogenesis caused by defective glucocorticoids was found to increase the biosynthesis of testicular testosterone in bADX mouse models. ​
